A list for quarter-life crises
A packed newsletter full of things (mostly videos) from other creators that provide thoughtful-provoking and mind-soothing perspectives on mental health and quarter-life crises. Enjoy!
For anyone feeling lost in life — Pick Up Limes
Feeling lost is an awful feeling, and I know this sense of confusion is something a lot of us struggle with. In this video, Sadia walks through the reasons we may be feeling lost, and 3 actions we can take to feel more clarity.
Mindfulness Hurts. That’s Why it Works — How to Build a Life
Many of us, I think, are scared of our thoughts. We keep busy through work or by scrolling on social media to distract us from the darker things on our minds. But the ability to sit with our thoughts is imperative if we want to live a happier life. To face our emotions and problems head on. Because if not, we sometimes end up losing ourselves.
This article details the importance of mindfulness, the difficulty of implementing it, and the steps we can take to overcome our fear. It’s a part of the Atlantic’s How to Build a Life column, which I also just recommend checking out as a whole (a recent title is The Perks of Being a Hot Mess, if that gives any incentive).
moving away for the first time — Michelle Gia
I recently came across Michelle Gia on Youtube, and needless to say, I’m impressed. While she’s clearly at a different life stage than I am, the messages within her videos feel universal to all of our ongoing searches to find place and purpose. Michelle’s style of storytelling is also raw and vulnerable, so if that’s your thing, give the this video a watch (it gets really good at around 4:40) or go take a browse through her channel.
How to Become Your Best Self — muchelleb
There’s a lot of information in this video, but I think the most important takeaway is the overarching message that’s featured in the first few minutes. You don’t accomplish your goals by being your authentic self (what feels comfortable), you grow when you do the things that you want to become.
And if you’re just feeling down
Some honourable mentions when all of the above feel too overwhelming.
my self-care rituals | journaling, early mornings & taking care of myself — Moya Mawhinney
the beauty of slowing things down — Michelle Gia
watch this if you’re avoiding work — Answer in Progress
One final note
To end this newsletter, I wanted to add this message: be patient. It may seem like everyone else has got it all figured out, got it more together than you, but we’re all constantly going through the same process of redirecting. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.
Accept that your anxieties and fears are valid, because feeling lost is scary. Accept that this may take you months, years, or a lifetime to figure out. That’s okay. The important thing is embrace uncertainty, be willing to change, and take things one step at a time.
Good luck. You got this.
