Hello dear friends.
It’s been a while since we last spoke. I hope you are all doing well and having a good start to the new year! I wanted to quickly hop on here to chat about what’s going on in my life.
First, I haven’t disappeared! I’ve been studying science journalism (and writing my butt off) for the past few months, and so I’ve been putting most of my energy into that. But good news! Some of that writing is making its way into the world. A few of my articles are already on Scienceline, our program’s student publication, so you can check them out there if you haven’t already. I am also the engagement/social media editor of our little magazine (I write the tweets, blurbs, etc, etc), so give us a follow, subscribe to our newsletter, or lurk on our website if you so please. While you’re there, I also urge you to check out the work of my fellow talented colleagues.
Second, my plans for the new year. Well, from an outward glance, I foresee that this year will be a quiet one, since I plan to focus on my studies (I graduate in December.) With that being said, I’ll still be around on the internet. This newsletter might have a spontaneous post from time to time (if a rant forms inside my brain). My socials will have sporadic posts (probably with any new published stories). But my main goal this year will be to find joy and be present in my time as a grad student, as I know this is a unique period in my life that I’ll likely cherish for years to come.
I wish you all the best, and that you yourself are finding joy and meaning in whatever point in life you are at. See you around :)
Best,
Alice
P.S. Here are my reflections from the beginning of last year, which I think serve as a good gentle reminder for this upcoming year as well.
